Compared to an apartment, a house means more walls between the NBN box and the rooms that need coverage, often multiple storeys, and sometimes a strict no-visible-cabling rule if there's a wheelchair user, young kids, or a landlord who won't allow drilling.

A 1,200sqm block with a 300sqm 5-bedroom house had its HFC box stuck near the garage, with bedrooms 25m+ away through multiple walls. We mapped different household members' needs (a gamer needing a wired-quality connection, everyone else just needing reliable coverage) and deployed a WiFi 7 Mesh system with zero new holes drilled. Separately, a 2-storey Randwick house on a 50Mbps Telstra line was getting 3–4Mbps upstairs through a decade-old WiFi-4 repeater — with a strict no-visible-cabling rule for a wheelchair user in the home, we solved it with a wired-backhaul TP-Link Deco X50 mesh, run through a new high wall-mounted power point instead of a floor cable.

For most Sydney houses, a 2–3 node WiFi 6/7 Mesh kit (TP-Link Deco, ASUS ZenWiFi or similar) covers everything without new cabling. If you're setting up a home office or a dedicated gaming room, a single wired backhaul point makes a big difference and is usually worth the small amount of extra cabling.
