A CBD hostel owner called after two days of guest complaints: WiFi worked near the front desk, but on every other floor the access points glowed red. Nobody on staff knew how the network had been put together.

A genuinely tangled inheritance: a TP-Link main router, a separate brand of wireless APs, newly added Deco units, camera NVRs — and no network switch at all. Cabling from earlier installers had never been labelled or dressed, so the first job was archaeology: tracing which cable fed what.
一套名副其实的"历史遗留"网络:TP-Link主路由、另一品牌的AP无线接入点、新加的Deco设备、监控录像机——却连一台交换机都没有。早期施工没有理线也没有标签,所以第一步其实是"考古":把每根网线的来龙去脉摸清楚。
The fix
处理过程
With the topology mapped, the fault chain became clear and was corrected on the spot. Every AP was power-cycled into the fixed topology and personally verified — we photographed each one back on a green light. We also left the owner a simple map of his own network, plus advice: label the cabling, add a proper switch.
拓扑理清后,故障链路随之明确并当场纠正。每个AP按修正后的拓扑重新上电,逐一到位验证——每个恢复绿灯的AP我们都拍了照。临走给老板留了一张他自家网络的简图,并建议:给网线贴标签、加一台正经交换机。
Result最终结果
All 7 APs back on green in about an hour; guest complaints stopped that night.
