A Sydney student on an Origin 250Mbps plan had just moved in and could not get online. They had taken their provider-supplied Eero router and plugged its incoming cable into a wall socket in the living room — the nearest one — and assumed that was the connection point. It was not. The internet does not come from just any wall socket — it starts at the NBN connection box, which needs its own power and one correct cable to the router's WAN port. Root cause: the NBN connection box was unpowered and hidden in a bedroom wardrobe, and the Eero's WAN cable was in an unrelated living-room socket. Powered up and wired correctly, the Origin-provisioned Eero came online and tested the full ~250 Mbps across the flat — all over an 18-minute video call.
