WiFi Connected, No Internet: a World Square Line Fault

A returning customer we first helped in late 2025 had just moved into a World Square apartment on Liverpool St in the Sydney CBD. Their Occom broadband showed activated (confirmation email on July 1), they'd bought a new DSL-capable TP-Link router, plugged it into the phone socket — WiFi connected on every device, but no internet at all.

Diagnosis: the line, not the router

We were on-site within 30 minutes, bringing our own test equipment. Rather than guessing at router settings, we tested the line itself — professionally checking every phone socket in the apartment. The verdict was clear: no data signal on any socket. The service was activated on the ISP's side, but the physical line into this apartment wasn't delivering — a fault only an NBN technician can fix at the infrastructure level.
