Five Deco Nodes, Three Floors and a Mesh Network That Had Been Deleted: a Five-Hour Rebuild (Kuala Lumpur)

Mesh networks are easy to live with and hard to repair. When one of them fails and the owner has already removed it from the app, there is no configuration left to inspect — the only honest option is to rebuild the whole thing from the ground up. That is what this job was: three floors, five Deco nodes, a switch, more than twenty devices, and five hours on site.

Mesh网络用起来省心,坏起来难修。一旦出故障、而且房主已经在APP里把整个组网删掉了,就没有任何配置可查——唯一诚实的做法就是从头重建一遍。这单活就是这样:三层楼、五台Deco、一台交换机、二十多台联网设备,现场做了五个小时。

The order matters more than people expect. The primary network has to live on the main Deco node before the other units are added, otherwise each node is trying to join a network that does not exist yet. Reset first, migrate the primary, then add nodes one at a time and test each one.顺序比大多数人以为的更重要。必须把主网络迁到作为主路由的那台Deco上,再去加其余节点,否则每台节点都在尝试加入一个还不存在的网络。先重置、再迁主网络、然后一台一台加入并逐台测试。

Mesh faults are genuinely hard to diagnose, and that is not your imagination.
Mesh类故障确实难排查,这不是你的错觉。
Result最终结果

Root cause: the previous mesh had failed and had already been deleted from the app, so there was no configuration left to repair. We migrated the primary network onto a TP-Link Deco main node, retired the provider-supplied router, factory-reset the remaining four Deco units and re-added them one at a time, testing each in its final position on each floor. After about five hours the Deco app showed a complete network map, and the switch and the twenty-plus wired and wireless devices were all back online.

根因是原有组网已经故障、并且已经在APP里被删除,没有任何配置可以修复。我们把主网络迁移到一台TP-Link Deco主节点上,停用了运营商赠送的路由器,把其余4台Deco恢复出厂后逐台重新加入,并且在每层楼的最终摆放位置上逐台测试。约五个小时后,Deco的APP上可以看到完整的网络地图,交换机与二十多台有线无线设备全部恢复在线。
