Film set & production WiFi, built around upload, not just download

Production offices open in empty buildings, studios run in warehouses, and unit bases move. We get the internet in, keep the crew online and plan the upload speed that footage, dailies and video calls need, for the length of the production.

What productions need

What film set and production WiFi has to handle

A production network is a working office, a file transfer pipe and a set that changes every week, often in a building that was empty a month ago.

01

Footage and file uploads

Rushes, proxies and files go out every day. Upload speed decides how long the team waits.

02

A production office from day one

Producers, coordinators and accounts need calls, email and printing the day they move in.

03

Sets and layouts that change

Walls go up and come down. Coverage is adjusted when the set or layout changes.

04

Many people, many devices

Crew carry phones, laptops and tablets. The network is sized for the busiest day, not the quiet one.

Estimated equipment

    Network requirements

Planning estimate only, not a quote. Assumes 1.5–2 devices per working person (about 1 for public events), about 50 devices per access point, roughly 900㎡ per access point on open floors (our 5,000㎡ warehouse used six), and typical per-person bandwidth for calls, browsing and uploads. Walls, steel, outdoor areas and what the venue can get change the design.

Film set & production WiFi FAQ

How much upload speed does a production need?

It depends on how much footage or how many files go out each day, and how fast they need to arrive. Plan upload first: a few people sending large files at once can use more than an office full of video calls. The planner on this page estimates it for your crew.

Can you set up internet at a location with no line?

Yes. We check what the address can get and coordinate the service with the provider. Activation depends on the provider, so contact us as early as you can.

Can you cover a studio or warehouse set?

Yes. Large floors and steel structures are planned node by node, with minimal temporary cabling, and positions are adjusted once the set is built.

Can the crew network be kept separate from the production office?

Yes. Production office, crew, guests and devices each get their own network, so a busy crew network does not slow down the office.

What happens when the set or layout changes?

Coverage is re-checked and access points are moved when layouts change. How and when that happens is agreed in your plan.

Can you extend if the production runs over?

Yes. Tell us as early as possible and we will extend the hire. Providers usually need notice to cancel a service, so let us know your wrap date early too.
