The name means exactly what it says: Aussie (Australian) + broadband. It ranks number one in Australia for reliability and support — and it's also the most expensive. If your budget allows and you care about the overall experience (or you game seriously), ABB is the safe choice. Heads-up: ABB's website and app can't be reached from inside mainland China, but work fine everywhere else.

International use: streaming back home can be frustrating.

Verdict: workable if you value coverage and can tolerate the odd drop-out — but choose on your own needs, not hype.

Telstra is the default many agents push — the biggest carrier, broad coverage, and the one people pick when they ‘just want the safe big name’. It's reliable enough but pricey, and support can be inconsistent. For streaming and study on a tighter budget, Exetel, TPG and iiNet deliver the same NBN line for less — the same 100M over the same infrastructure, just a cheaper retailer. The trade-off is usually slower/less polished support.

To switch: cancel the old service → check your address on the new provider's site → submit the application → wait for the activation email. If you can't select a provider for your address, that's coverage/infrastructure, not you.

One real case: a student in Victoria signed up with the correct VIC address, but an hour later the activation email showed a service address in Queensland he'd never heard of. Online chat couldn't cancel it — only a phone call could. Lesson: read the activation email carefully and check the service address before you configure anything.
